Lola the mutilating Cockatoo
THIS IS LOLA, A 10 YEAR OLD GREATER SULPHER CRESTED COCKATOO THAT CAME INTO THE RESCUE IN JUNE SHE HAS BEEN MUTILATING HERSELF ON HER CHEST, BACK & BELLY. SHE HAS BEEN SUFFERING WITH GRIEF & DEPRESSION. THE AVIAN VET HAS DONE ALL THE BLOOD WORK, X-RAYS & ENDOSCOPY EXAMINATION TO SHOW LOLA TO HAVE A SLIGHTLY SWOLLEN SPLEEN AND TESTICLES WITH HIGH HORMONE LEVELS. DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF MUTILATION SHE WAS ONLY GIVEN A 20% CHANCE OF SURVIVAL, BUT WE WERE NOT GOING TO GIVE UP ON HER. SHE HAS HAD A HORMONE IMPLANT AS WELL AS BEEN FITTED WTH BRACE AND COLLAR TO STOP HER FROM HARMING HERSELF FURTHER, ALL HER WOUNDS HAVE BEEN BANDAGED AND NOW THEY HAVE HEALED ALTHOUGH SHE HAD PULLED A FEW BLOOD FEATHERS BY HER LEG WHICH HAS SET HER RECOVERY BACK A FEW WEEKS. SHE LOVES HER CUDDLES AND BEING OUT IN THE AVAIRY AND WITH CONSTANT CARE, THE RIGHT MEDICATION, A BALANCED DIET & TLC, SHE CAN START THE ROAD TO RECOVERY.
THE VET BILLS HAVE SO FAR TOTALLED OVER A £1100 WHICH HIT THE CHARITY FUND HARD, AS WE ONLY HAVE A LOW OPERATING BUDGET.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
IF YOU CAN PLEASE DONATE HOWEVER MUCH YOU CAN AFFORD TO HELP LOLA AND THE OTHER BIRDS IN THE RESCUE.

Thank you for your interest, in order to be considered for fostering one of our birds we have the following criteria to be met.
All potential Fosterers must be fully paid up members of Joan's North Wales Parrot Rescue.
Potential Fosterers must live within the North Wales (including Cheshire and the Wirral) area, as all our rehomed birds receive an annual home check, for the life of the bird. This area may increase in the future, but at present we have to keep the area local to keep travel costs down.
Finally, all potential Fosterers must have had and completed a successful homecheck.
Once all of this criteria has been met, then the potential Fosterers home can be considered for the rehoming of the bird.
